NECROMANCY was created during the Winter of 2016 in Melbourne, Australia. Founder and creator, The Green Widow has been a gothic enthusiast for almost 30 years. Born in Adelaide, where she first heard the music of Joy Division, The Cure, The Smiths and the usual suspects, cultivated an appreciation of the music, sub-culture and all things darkly inclined – the kind of thing this site is all about.
An antipodean who has travelled the world, visiting clubs, festivals, concerts and collaborated with many underground musicians, The Green Widow has a site that provides links to various artists and other gothic and post-punk goodness. We’re planning to make this space a place where you can not only do a bit of shopping as a discerning lover of black and all things vampy, but discover the road less travelled in a night-time telly kind of way. The Necromancy way.
On a professional note Peter Saville, a UK art director/graphic designer who created the cover art for Joy Division’s album ‘Unknown Pleasures’, was also a huge influence in The Green Widow’s path as a graphic designer and studio odd body (that’s the short version). This resulted in a 25 year career in advertising and the big bad world of capitalist creativity as a Corporate Goth. Why?
BECAUSE NICE BOOTS ARE EXPENSIVE.
Now, as a very small enterprise, NECROMANCY is not a mega-warehouse (you can go to Hot Topic for that), however if you are in Australia, you can expect swift delivery of your goodies. We are not a money grubbing website – we do feature ‘modern’ brands but it’s all part of history – don’t judge us…. dig deeper.
NECROMANCY is also looking to feature gothic artists, models, bands and other darkly inclined creatives on our website, so stay tuned on our Instagram and Twitter. We don’t use Facebook. If you’re extra special you can add us on Skype with email@example.com for interviews or if you’re feeling lucky.
Please message us if you have any questions or suggestions. If they are sensible, we will reply.
Join us and bask in the light of darkness.
